Immelen 2022 served at the Nobel Banquet 2025
For the first time, a Swedish wine was served with the main course at the Nobel Banquet. The choice fell on our cuvée Immelen 2022.
”This is an incredible recognition of our long-term commitment to quality. Sweden is becoming a wine country to be reckoned with”, says Victor Dahl, CEO.
At the 2025 Nobel Banquet, guests were able to taste a Swedish quality wine for the first time. Our white wine Immelen 2022 was served with the main course, turbot stuffed with scallops. Swedish ice cider has previously accompanied the dessert, but a still Swedish wine has never been served. Another novelty is that the wine is white – the tradition is to serve red with the main course.
”It feels fantastic. We have come a long way. Our first vines were planted in 2006 and our business in its current form started just under 15 years ago”, continues Victor Dahl, who was present at the “party of parties” in Stockholm City Hall.
Victor helped open all 300 bottles and served a couple of them. The response exceeded expectations.
“It was overwhelming to hear the guests' reactions. Many were surprised by how good the wine we can make in Sweden today is, and how well it goes with food.”
The Nobel Banquet is one of Sweden's most high-profile events. The first banquet was held back in 1901. It takes place in the Blue Hall at Stockholm City Hall and is attended by around 1,300 guests, including the prize winners and their families, the royal family and representatives from the government.
This year's menu was created by Tommy Myllymäki, Pi Le and Frida Bräcke, all of whom have impressive CVs. Tommy Myllymäki has won numerous awards, owned several restaurants and written a number of cookbooks. Frida Bräcke has been named “Pastry Chef of the Year” three years in a row. Pi Le has won gold and silver with the junior national culinary team and now works with Tommy Myllymäki and runs the Michelin-starred restaurant Aira.
"What makes this assignment unique is that it carries such an incredibly strong historical legacy, while at the same time showcasing gastronomic innovation. For us, it's always ultimately about creating a fantastic taste experience – and preferably with unexpected flavour combinations," said Tommy Myllymäki about the assignment.
This is not the first time that Immelen wine has been selected by a jury. The 2021 vintage received the highest rating in The Swedish Wine Tasting 2024, where twelve Swedish wines were set against twelve international wines of the same style and price range. The jury included some of the world's leading sommeliers, wine writers and Masters of Wine.
Immelen 2022 was served at the Nobel Banquet in 2025.
”It is one of our most homogeneous vintages to date. We had a good balance between sun and rain, with no unpleasant surprises in the form of storms or hail”, says winemaker Nicola D'agostini.
"We were able to harvest healthy grapes with really good ripeness, especially Solaris. The vintage is now at a good drinking stage, with integrated oak and a round mouthfeel.”
Immelen is a cuvée where the grape composition varies slightly from year to year. The 2022 vintage consists of 87% Solaris, with the remainder being Souvignier Gris and Muscaris. All grapes are so-called PIWI, fungus-resistant varieties that are suited to our northern climate and facilitate sustainable production.
”Solaris ripens early, develops good sugar content but can lose some acidity towards the end. That's where Souvignier Gris comes in, with its acidity and freshness”, explains Nicola D'agostini, who has been working with Helena Lindberg since last spring. Helena has over 20 years of international experience and most recently comes from Biserno in Tuscany, where she was group winemaker.
